Notes:
-read pattern through before beginning
-Pattern is worked in one piece and is divided into three sections, Section A, Section B, and Section C.
- Pattern is worked in rows, there are the basic rows (Row 1, Row 2, ect.) and then there are rows to help you make the points of the ornament and these are a bit longer than the basic rows (Row A, Row B, ect.)
-You do not FO until the very end of the pattern
-there is an optional section after row 10, this is to make the ornament loop, you can use a store bought ornament hook or a paper clip instead of doing this step, if not doing this step, continue onto Row C
Pattern:
Section A:
Row 1) ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (4sts)
Row 2) - 4) ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (4 sts)
Square shape made
Row A) fold square you just made in half to form two isosceles triangles, join the two corners of the triangle where your hook should still be from the end of Row 4 with a sl st, then sl st down the remaining side of one of the triangles to next corner, DO NOT sl st the sides of the triangle together!
Section B:
Row 5) ch 11, join w/ sl st in next corner (ignore the corner you sl st together in Row A) ch 11, join w/ sl st to first ch (22 chs)
This is what the ornament should look like after Row 5
Row 6) ch 1 (sc in next 5 chs, 3sc inc in next ch, sc in next 5 chs) twice, join w/ sl st to first sc (26 sts)
Row 7) ch 1, (sc in next 6 sts, 3sc inc in next ch, sc in next 6 sts) twice, join w/ sl st to first sc (30 sts)
Row B) sl st in next 7 sts, join the two opposite points w/ a sl st into middle stitch of the 3sc inc from Row 7, sl st in next 7 sts
~ You should have formed another “triangle” type point, the point of section B should be pointing in the opposite direction of section A~
Section C
Row 8) ch 19, join w/ sl st in next corner (ignore the corner you sl st together in Row B), ch 19, join w/ sl st first ch (38 chs)
Row 9) ch 1 (sc in next 9 chs, 3sc inc in next ch, sc in next 9 chs) twice, join w/ sl st to first sc (42 sts)
Row 10) ch 1, (sc in next 10 sts, 3sc inc in next st, sc in next 10 sts) twice, join w/ sl st to first sc (46 sts)
~Optional Ornament Loop (continue w/ pattern if using store bought hook or paperclip) ch 25, join w/ sl st to first sc from row 10~
Row C) sl st in next 10 sts, join the two opposite points w/ a sl st into middle stitch of the 3sc inc from Row 710 sl st in next 10 sts
~ You should have formed another “triangle” type point, the point of section C should be pointing in the opposite direction of section B and the same direction as section A’s point~
FO and weave in ends
You are finished!
